TEHRAN Deputy Parliament Speaker Behzad Nabavi here Tuesday criticized the oversight Guardian Council for a wholesale rejection of parliamentary candidates who intended to stand in the June by-elections. "This could undermine the Islamic Republic's credibility as well as reduce public participation in the elections," he warned.

"These moves could provide a suitable campaign fodder for the opponents of the system to say that our elections lack credibility," he said.
